Overview |
Situated in the western part of the island, Jurong Point opened in December 1995 as one of Singapore’s largest suburban malls, attracting 2 million visitors a month. About two-thirds of these visitors are families which contribute to some of tenants’ revenue. Expansion plans due for completion by the end 2008, will make Jurong Point the largest suburban mall with shopper traffic projected at 3 million a month. |

To offer something for everyone in the family, Jurong Point offers seven floors of shopping, dining, entertainment and services with a mix of shops that includes junior anchors such as John Little, Harvey Norman, NTUC Fairprice supermarket/Liberty Market, Kiddy Palace, Toys 'R' Us and over 200 specialty shops/service providers, each contributing to a multi faceted shopping experience. |

To actively target the family segment, Jurong Point offers the ‘Shiok’ rewards programme, which features an Oasis Members’ Lounge, where families can utilize the bag, pram and wheelchair deposit service, free internet access, a kids’ entertainment area and complimentary refreshments. |

Service Attitude |
To sharpen family friendly services, all new mall staff undergo on-the-job training. This includes training in service attributes to effectively engage tenants and customers and especially on how to welcome families. To ensure continuing service standards, Quality audits are conducted every by managers. Staff that meet and exceed performance standards are rewarded with S$50-$100 shopping vouchers. |
Nurturing service care |
To nurture service care, Jurong Point provides rest benches throughout the mall and also within the ladies toilets on Levels 2 and 3. Child-friendly sinks and urinals are catered for in the toilets so that children won’t need to be separated from their parents when they use the restrooms. |
Safety first |
To ensure a secure shopping environment, Jurong Point ensures that its staff are trained in emergency procedures. It has in place a fire and crisis response plan, which is regularly tested in simulated fire and emergency drills during quarterly dry runs. |

Access & Layout |
To cater for adequate space for access and movement especially for the young, elderly and handicapped, Jurong Point has constructed corridors that offer ample space and turning angles. To ensure added safety, all flooring within the mall is made of non-slip material and safety brushes are installed on all escalators to prevent shoppers’ long skirts or shoes being caught onto the sides.
As a barrier-free mall, visitors especially those with
wheelchairs, trolleys and prams can conveniently access the mall via the Boon Lay MRT station, Jurong Bus Interchange, taxi stands and various mall walkways. |
Facilities |
To create a family-friendly environment, Jurong Point has catered for a private space for mothers to change diapers and nurse their babies via special nursing rooms that are located on every floor and fitted with doors or curtains for added privacy. Hot water is available for parents to steralise feeding bottles or to make powdered milk. Within the handicapped toilet on every floor, there are diaper changing stations especially for fathers. |
