GLOBETROTTERS RESTAURANT PTE LTD

Overview

Globetrotters Restaurant has established itself as a choice destination for family dining in Singapore today, having developed products and services in line with its focused pro-family business strategy.  It was conceived as a laid-back place to celebrate the good things in life, including families with young children who could enjoy their meal at their own pace.

Strategy

Mission

A part of their mission is to give families the best dining experience. Globetrotters sees business opportunities in being pro-family.

Product & Service Mix

To appeal to family members of all ages, Globetrotters has a pro-family business strategy in place and a well-defined product and service mix. Its menu consists of signature dishes from the East and West, a wide choice of kid’s selection, as well as local dishes for elderly diners/grandparents who may prefer something more traditional. They have recently launched a new menu focused on more contemporary cuisine with global influences.

Marketing & Promotions

To attract more families to dine at Globetrotters, the restaurant employs a variety of marketing and promotional strategies, such as having a dedicated Website, and tapping Internet search engines and portal listings to raise its profile and visibility.

Advertising and promotions strategies include targeting families through magazines that cater to parents and women, for example Young Parents magazine. Tie-ins with strategic partners such as Toys R’ Us on promotions and special offers also help to bring in more families.

Service

Service Attitude

To ensure families are served well, Globetrotters trains its staff to be sensitive to parents’ needs. Children are served first and for their safety, staff serve kids with child-friendly crockery and cutlery, and ensure not to place hot food in front of them.

Nurturing service care

To nurture service care, the restaurant even offers a baby menu complete with bibs, suction bowls and sippy cups. Diapers, travel–sized wipes and other baby items are sold individually for the convenience of parents.

Kids can also make their own pizza and watch it being baked, or enjoy sundaes and smoothies at the milkshake bar, which offers a lower counter height and stools.

Play assistants are on hand during peak periods to help entertain the children in the glassed-in play area within the restaurant.

Safety first

Safety is a primary consideration in the restaurant. Staff are trained to anticipate safety risks especially towards children and to take precautions against common hazards to children such as hot beverages, hot and sharp surfaces and tripping or falling hazards.

Staff disinfect high chairs after each use and ensure that each has a strap so that babies are safely secured.

A low sink is located just outside the playroom so that kids can maintain good hygiene and wash their hands before eating.

Infrastructure

Access & Layout

To offer a family-friendly environment, the restaurant is designed with three main sections.  One section has moveable tables and chairs to allow flexible seating arrangements for families. Another section has fixed tables and chairs with broad aisles to allow wheelchair access.

The entrance to the restaurant has a small ramp instead of stairs to allow easy access by young children and the elderly as well as of prams, strollers and wheelchairs.

Facilities

To provide parents with a family-friendly place to dine, Globetrotters has a glassed-in play area where kids can play in full view of their parents. It is fitted with thick rubber flooring, a play structure and a variety of high quality toys carefully selected for their open-ended play and educational value.
